Unit 37 - Dance performance

I have watched the film ‘Maleficent’ again so that I can grasp a better understanding of the storyline. I was also able to make some notes as I was watching the film so that I can then go back to these when thinking about the show and the routines that I would like to put in the show. Here are a copy of the notes:
·      The film starts with a voiceover which begins to tell the story
·      Maleficent meets Stephan
·      Maleficent grows up
·      Maleficent’s 16th birthday – Stephan kisses Maleficent
·      Stephan choses royalty over being friends with Maleficent
·      A battle between the humans and the moors which aims to kill and get rid of the moors
·      Stephan warns Maleficent that the king is wanting to kill her
·      Maleficent forgives Stephan for what he has done to her
·      Maleficent loses her wings
·      Maleficent meets Diaval
·      Stephan is crowned king
·      Christening of king Stephan’s baby daughter, Aurora
·      Maleficent cast a spell on Aurora – on her 16th birthday she will prick her finger and fall into a deep sleep. She can only be awoken by true loves kiss
·      Stephan send Aurora to the woods where she is looked after by the 3 fairies
·      Aurora meets Maleficent and their relationship begins to build as she grows older
·      Aurora meets Phillip
·      Aurora goes back to castle to meet her dad before her 16th birthday
·      Aurora pricks her finger and falls into a deep sleep on her 16th birthday
·      Prince Phillip kisses Aurora in the attempt to wake her but she does not wake up
·      Maleficent feels bad for what she has done to Aurora
·      Maleficent kisses Aurora on the forehead which causes her to wake up
·      Maleficent is captured by the humans as they want to kill her but she is then set free by Diaval who is turned into a dragon
·      She fights to get her wings back after Aurora found them in a cage
·      Maleficent returns back to the moors wit Aurora
·      Aurora is crowned queen of the moors
When we are thinking about the storyline for the show, we do not have to stick to this completely because it is our own interpretation of the story.
