Wednesday 6th
December
This
morning we weren’t doing any practical work because we were talking through the
brief and reflecting on how we think our final performance went last week. This
was also a chance for me to chat with Laura to set some personal targets for
the rest of the academic year. We talked about me carrying on to build in
emotion to all of the pieces which I am involved in.
For
the rest of the morning, I was helping to prepare for a dance show which will
be taking place tomorrow night.
In
the afternoon, I had a dance rehearsal for a show that I am going to be
performing in tomorrow. The show is Laura Gale’s Christmas dance showcase and involves
many of her different classes such as street jazz, contemporary and musical
theatre. I was in the show due to taking a weekly contemporary dance lesson with
a teacher who is employed by Laura, Emily. The rehearsal today was 3 hours long
– from 4pm till 7pm. It gave us a chance to run through the show ready for tomorrow
and re-block any of the numbers if people weren’t doing the show. It also gave
us a chance to watch all of the other dances in the show so we could see what
everyone else was performing. We weren’t really able to re-block our numbers
yet because we didn’t have everyone for the rehearsal today but we will
hopefully have more for the rehearsal tomorrow before the show. Also during the
rehearsal today, after we had rehearsed our first routine on stage, I was asked
to go over this routine with the rest of the class because there were some
parts which people weren’t as confident on as others. I found this quite easy
because I have taught this class before a couple of weeks ago.
Tomorrow
we will have a rehearsal before the show and then the show will start at 6pm.
However, we are having a tech and dress run at 5pm which some parents are
coming to see because they are unable to make the later performance. Therefore,
we need to treat this as a real performance.
